Weather Trigger Widget
Ever wished you could dynamically change ad content based on the weather? Last month Mixpo released a new widget that does just that – it changes the content of an ad based on the weather at either the viewer’s location or a set fixed location. This means advertisers can provide more relevant content to their viewers by showing different products, features, and promotions tailored by location. Here are two popular scenarios for using the new widget:
Weather Based on Viewer Location
When the widget is based on the viewer’s location, their IP address is used to serve the correct image based on the weather condition for that address. Raining in Seattle and sunny in Miami? Each viewer sees the following:
Weather Based in a Specific Location
When the widget is based on a specific location, advertisers can promote different messaging based on the weather in that location. Snowing in Denver? Denver Tourism can promote skiing, while sunny weather shows outdoor activities, and rainy promotes museum visits.
With this widget, advertisers will have the option to upload different images for up to six different weather options: sunny/clear sky, cloudy, rain/drizzle, snow, thunderstorm, extreme – tornado/hurricane. Another option is they can set copy to change when the temperature is above or below a set degree.
Imagine the possibilities for restaurants who can offer warm or cold food and drinks, auto ads that can promote different features, retailers who can highlight different products, and travel/tourism outlets who can promote the destination’s weather.
